Rachel and Ethan’s Oklahoma Engagement Session

Dear Oklahoma, your leaves in the fall are amazing and perfect for wedding photos! Specifically, Durant OK….I am happy to have photographed Rachel and Ethan in your state. Really and truly, Oklahoma is breathtaking in the fall. (don’t worry, Texas, I am not going to leave you!) The leaves were rich fall colors and we just were drooling with delight. I first talked with Rachel about their wedding when they sat down with me to talk photography for their wedding. She and her parents shared with me that the wedding was going to take place at a REAL fort in Oklahoma. They started to use words like, “barracks” and “war reenactments”. My mind started to wonder if this was going to be a good fit. I have never been to a place like this and was curious about it. We quickly got back on track when words like “elegant”, “romantic”, and “rustic” – they were talking my language and I was on the exact same page as them. Rachel showed me her “wedding book” and all of her ideas….I swooned, we laughed, then hugged and the rest is history.

Fast forward to the planning of the engagement session. We tossed around the idea of going to Fort Washita for a portion of the session, and then a couple more stops along the way. These two lovebirds have a lot of history (both family and together) in Durant, Oklahoma and it was important to include the city in their engagement session. Durant is much like the town I grew up in…small, rich in history and most of the older buildings are still in use. We took advantage and made our way around downtown for part of the session. The couch, its her family couch. The sign that reads, “she said yes!”, her mom made it. The Fort….the awesome FORT, its where they are getting married. The land with the swing, its his Grandfather’s. See….tons of history for this two. Enjoy this session, they are so sweet and I am really looking forward to their wedding in the summer next year.
