Heather and Jeremy at the Japanese Gardens in Fort Worth Texas

I really enjoy engagement sessions. I call them “get to know you” sessions. Its literally a chance for me get to know the couple and them to get to know me and be a little more comfortable for their wedding day with a camera around them. I try not to pose a whole lot, but really direct them into a flattering position (thinking that’s possibly the same as posing…HA!). I let them love on each other and I just move things around to make it look flattering. Meet Heather and Jeremy. When Heather first contacted me from California, her home state, I was so excited to receive her email. She and Jeremy are having their wedding in Sunny California in just a few short months, and wanted to have their engagement session in the Dallas Fort Worth area since that’s where Jeremy is from. I made a sad face when she told me a dear friend of theirs is photographing their wedding, but alas, we will always have Fort Worth Japanese Gardens! We talked about a few locations and were 100% certain on the spot …. UNTIL she saw my blog post from Elizabeth and Kevin’s engagement session in Fort Worth. We made the switch because she loved the location. Donna (did I mention I have an intern right now from the Art Institute of Dallas??) was out learning the ins and outs of the wedding photography business and I turned to her before the session and asked her if she wanted to shoot. Excited … she said yes! Four of the scenery images in this post were taken by Donna. If you have a session with me in the coming weeks you will probably see her smiling face.

Rewind … Heather and Jeremy wanted to set up a meeting to talk locations, times, and outfits for their engagement session. I met Jeremy and he said he didn’t like pictures. I told him my goal at the end of the shoot was to hear him say, “that wasn’t so bad”….. Jeremy, you made my day when you told me that 🙂

Amy, what time of day do you typically shoot your photos? The lighting is always so perfect. Does it also depend on the season?
