Wedding day-after photography is becoming a fast favorite of mine. Kathryn and Ben’s wedding was in Austin a couple of weeks ago and after their honeymoon, we chose a lavender field outside of Dallas for a day-after photography session. Driving north to Gainesville (just shy of the Oklahoma border), I saw a few rain drops on my windshield. I was hopeful we could avoid the rain, but when Kathryn arrived with her new husband, Ben they let me know if it did rain, they were up for dancing in it – hooray, that’s awesome! The smell of lavender filled the air, the winds were high, and the weather was breaking with a thunderstorm in the distance. They were both so sweet and I adored laughing and having a great time with them. Jane from Lavender Ridge was so accommodating and even stuck around to observe. Kathryn didn’t have her bridal portraits with me so we made sure to get a few images of her alone in that gorgeous convertible wedding dress. They brought along their devotional that their guests signed at the wedding. It was so special to have that as an added touch to the session. She used the dried lavender from the wedding as a bouquet for the portrait session.
