Emily’s Bridals at the Fort Worth Botanic Garden

dallas fort worth wedding photographer (1)Emily and I went to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens with her Mom to photograph her bridals. I just love it when the mothers are present for this special time. Its a real bonding experience for mom and daughter. Some even offer to help out with the session. They hold reflectors, pull rolling camera bags, hold lightstands, take a few snapshots with their point and shoots, and even carrying the train of the dresses. Her wedding dress was absolutely breathtaking. She had some custom alterations done to the dress including a beautiful sweetheart neckline. Emily and Shelby’s Fort Worth engagement session was my chance to get to know them as a couple. For her bridal portraits, I was really able to get to know her and this included lots of laughs and she pulled out her fierce diva side for me.

The gardens have a special section … The Japanese Gardens. I was a bit apprehensive about the extra fee to shoot there, but once inside the stunning light showering the trees stopped me in my tracks. I really was oohing and ahhing at every turn. I must have said…”wait, stop here, the light is perfect.” 50 or so times during the portrait session. We encountered sprinklers in the middle of the day, some hungry Carp, and a few human lovebirds that we had to intrude on their nest for a moment.

Emily and Shelby’s wedding was this weekend at the Fort Worth Club and it was flawless. The awesome team of wedding professionals were a dream to work with. I am looking forward to sharing a few images with you from the wedding. Enjoy her bridal portraits and be sure to leave her some blog love in the form of a comment. It truly makes my day and my clients feel like rockstars when you do!

Andrea & Paul’s Wedding Portraits

dallas wedding photographer amy karp with andrea and paul (1)

Andrea and Paul’s wedding in Plano, Texas at Event 1013 has arrived and I am FINALLY able to share this gorgeous session with you. They really are some of my favorites. I talked with Andrea at our initial wedding consult and ideas about what she and Paul envisioned for thier wedding photography started over-flowing my mind and I thought I may need to pinch myself during the meeting. These two are filled with chemistry, emotion and fun. During the engagement session we found ourselves at one of their favorite places to hang out and they brought along one of their favorite things to do together….their bikes! Incorporating their bikes into the session was genius. It told who they were and what they like to do together.

It came time to talk about our bridal session and I already knew Paul would be there. They still wanted to have a “first look” so the next few images were them seeing each other for the first time in with Andrea in her wedding dress….her stunning perfect for her wedding dress! Seriously, she’s stunning. Scroll down and see for yourself. Paul has a beloved truck and they wanted to bring it to the session, but the broken windshield had other plans for us that day. Andrea and Paul enjoy star-gazing, so Paul brought out one of his antique telescopes and we were able to have fun with it.  Andrea’s grandmother made an afghan for them and she wont be around to make to the wedding. They wanted to incorporate her memory in their images. I asked them to wrap themselves in it and the symbolism (to me at least) is that she is hugging them, providing warmth and an overall comfort to them.

We rounded out the session with Andrea in her wedding shawl and some off-camera lighting.

Raegan’s Bridals at the Adolphus Hotel in Dallas

dallas wedding photographer raegan bridals adolphus hotel (1)

I absolutely love bridals…..I keep them under wraps until the wedding day because of the big reveal. Today is Raegan and Matt’s wedding, so its time to let these beauties loose! This bridal session was at the beautiful Adolphus Hotel in Dallas Texas. Raegan originally scheduled a session with me months in advance and one of the FEW days this summer it decided to rain had other plans for us. A large part of Texas was hit with one of the worst droughts in history and I am not exaggerating at all. We regrouped our bridal brains a few weeks later and decided to go to the wedding venue and it was perfect. Raegan is stunning and her dress….just say “WOW!” It is unlike any wedding dress I have seen one of my brides and it is gorgeous.

She really wanted to have a bit of our session in the French Room at the Adolphus, so we cordially asked if we could sneak in for a few minutes. This room is stunning. The ornate architecture and marble columns are breathtaking. There was inspiration at every turn. Just when we would finish up with one spot, we turn around and there’s something else beautiful to sit with. We happened to chose a college football weekend and I must say those LSU fans were some of the nicest people. Talk about chivalry. These guys were referring the crowd to make sure they were out of our frame at all times. I was super impressed. Thanks for helping these Dallas gals out!

Raegan walked us up to the room at the Adolphus where her wedding will be and we found ANOTHER great spot. Between the iron work, the chandeliers, pianos, paintings, gorgeous lamps and other decor, I felt a little like we were in a Horchow showroom.

Vianey’s Bridal Session in Richardson Texas

richardson texas outdoor bridal session by dallas wedding photographer amy karp (1)

As a wedding photographer, bridal sessions are so outrageously fun to me. I am able to bring a bride to a location most of the time outside of their venue and then play for a few hours with them and their beautiful bridal gown. Most brides like to keep their dress as clean and gorgeous for the wedding, so I am careful to make sure that happens. There were a few tricks involved to get her laying on the ground in her Maggie Sottero wedding dress and walking her through waist high grass for some of my very favorites from the session. I am always excited to see how we can make a vision come to life in a portrait session. Vianey and I had been brainstorming with ideas and locations and after a few suggestions, she was excited to have a dreamy session at a location full of greenery and trees. The session has elegance, class, whimsy, lots of gorgeous light and a beautiful bride. She knew her body and any pose I threw at her she nailed it. This is a dream for a photographer. I had a difficult time narrowing down my favorites from the session for this blog post. There were so many beautiful moments frozen from this bridal session. She hired a good friend and wedding planner extraordinaire, Sarabeth Events for her special day. She and her groom were married at a beautiful outdoor wedding ceremony this weekend in Fort Worth and I am happy to be able to share these gorgeous bridal portraits from a park I love shooting at in Richardson Texas. Enjoy these pre-wedding day images and I wish Vianey and Matt a lifetime full of love and happiness.

Danielle’s Bridals at the Aldredge House in Dallas

dallas wedding photographer and danielles bridals at the aldredge house (2)Danielle and Patrick are now married and I am so excited to share these gorgeous bridal portraits with you. They had a beautiful lawn wedding at the Omni Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Colinas. I first gave you a sneak peek from this session at the Aldredge House in Dallas several weeks ago.

Danielle looked radiant in her Priscilla of Boston wedding gown and the Aldredge House in Dallas was a perfect backdrop for this gorgeous styled bridal session.

Robin with DiFiori brought in a work of art. Her bouquet was perfect hues of purple and looked so elegant in this setting. She also let us play with the green chair and lamp…more on that later ;) Iron birds, glass and other goodies were also borrowed to pull it all together.

On to the styling … Britney Karlik with RSVP Events did a magnificent job on the table creating this incredible work of art. She used books as center pieces and bird nests and tiny birds on each place setting. C-U-T-E! She brought along so many things for the session, including an antique ladder, elbow length gloves (vintage for Nieman Marcus), hat boxes and list goes on and on.

Hair and Makeup was gorgeous and flawless. Valerie Davis did a fantastic job on the makeup.  Lindsey Brittain came out to give us a hand

with hair…she is a great Dallas Wedding Photographer and just happens to create masterpieces with hair and makeup. The headpiece from Bethany Lorelle looked amazing and was perfect.

kelley’s bridals at a vineyard near Dallas

dallas bridal portraits of kelley by dallas wedding photographer amy karp (1)

Kelley is a beautiful bride and her personality is just as stunning. You may recognize her from this ultra cool engagement Dallas area Film inspired session we did in Dallas a few weeks back in Turtle Creek, Uptown and the rooftop of Southside on Lamar. If you haven’t seen it, its worth the look.

When we began planning her bridal portraits several months ago, I had no idea when we stepped out and began photographing in that vineyard I would be so inspired by the light and wouldn’t be able to move from the same row the entire shoot. Waiting for what felt like an eternity moved so quickly while we were among the vines and showered with golden sunlight that afternoon. Kate Foley Designs creatively created a beautiful bridal bouquet for Kelley’s session. I had an awesome team to help out that day, Teresa is fantastic and an expert bouncer of light, Kelley’s bridesmaids learned how to lace the wedding dress in record time and ready for whatever the wedding day throws their way. The green chair’s appearance has made it to another one of my bridals. The green chair’s owner is Robin with DiFiori – look for a special project from her soon with the chair.

The owner of the Wales Manor & Vineyard was a real hoot. He drove along the rows of the vineyard in his gator with his trusty sidekick, Vino (the dog) along side him. He couldn’t help but sit with us for the session and I talk to us about his property, Kelley’s dress, and all of the props we had for the session. I brought one of my vintage birdcages, Kelley brought a handful of others including, a violin, some suitcases, bubbles, and even a parasol. It was a great session and an honor to work with such a fun bride. I hope your wedding is gorgeous and I so wish I could be there to cheer you and Matt on for your day! Have fun and may each day be better than the last for you two love birds. You deserve it :)

Bridal Portraits at Wale’s Vineyard in McKinney Texas (sneak peek!)

Kelley’s bridal session just north of Dallas in McKinney Texas is going to be one of my favorites…I am certain of it! There are so many things about this bridal session that had me so excited, but I can only reveal a few images of the gorgeous bouquet and one very vague image with the bride in the background. The sun moved fast through the sky as we planned to have the wonderful golden light showering us in the vineyard. I had so many … “ahh, I love this one” moments during this session.

When we arrived at the Wales Manor & Vineyard to photograph Kelley’s beautiful bridal session, I was instantly inspired. The light was gorgeous, the grass was showing signs of spring, we could even see the beginning stages of the tiny grapes on the vines. Kelley looked amazing in her wedding dress. You are just going to have to take my word for it. It was the perfect gown for her. The embellishments and details were amazing. They shimmered in the sun. She was glowing….glowing! The back-lighting was unreal from this session. Kelley and Matt will be married on May 28th and until then, I can only show you a few details from the session. This is a must see….sorry to keep you in suspense, but I just had to share this teaser with you to show you the beautiful bouquet from Kate Foley Designs.

Seriously! Must see….vineyard bridals and a stunning bride. See you back here soon for the big reveal. I really would love to photograph a session again here soon, so any of my Dallas couples if you love the idea, let me know. I will see about getting it set up for our time together. The venue is about 45 minutes north of Dallas. Fairly easy to find and the owner is a hoot!

photographing dallas couture bridal gowns with texas wedding guide

couture wedding gowns in dallas texas by stanley korshak photographed by dallas wedding photographer amy karp photography

I am overjoyed to share these images with you. I have been sitting on them for several months and they almost burned a whole in my hard drive! This has been one of the most exciting projects I have worked on. I have done several commercial jobs, but being on set at CityPlace in Dallas with gorgeous wedding gowns from the Bridal Salon at Stanley Korshak, killer designer shoes, and fashion forward menswear was at the top of the charts. The team was amazing. I was so honored to be able to collaborate with Texas Wedding Guide; they had a very clear vision when it came to this shoot. They gave me several tear sheets to reference during the shoot for posing and lighting ideas. The wonderful makeup and styling was by the fabulous Shannon Caldwell with Something-You. Lilium Floral Design did a fantastic job with these very modern bridal bouquets. All of the stunningly hip furniture was from P.O.S.H. Couture Rentals.

I speak the truth when I say things look different in print…especially glossy magazine paper. Go pick up a copy of Texas Wedding Guide to get all of the details about these wedding gowns, shoes, & accessories. You will also see what a great team this was to work with. They are on shelves now.

When I arrived at Hickory Street Annex to photograph Ashley in her stunning wedding gown (current issues of fashion magazines in hand for posing inspiration) I had no idea what I was in store for. Once we started the bridal session, I realized I could have left those magazines in the car. Ashley had some serious bridal posing skills in her back pocket! I have been patiently (or a little impatiently) waiting to post these stunning beauties for a few months. Ashley and Brent’s wedding was yesterday in Dallas at Hickory Street Annex (sneak peek coming SOON!) so I can now.

rachel bridals | DALLAS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

Three looks, three locations, one awesome Bride, one terrific make-up artist is what made this bridal photo session so incredibly fun! Dallas is filled with so many possibilities for great bridal portraits and we hit three of them. We started our day pretty early at Third Space, then over to Party Off The Grid and finally at White Rock Lake. Third Space has some incredible art on display and we took advantage and put Rachel right in the middle of it all with a vintage retro look. At Party Off The Grid we braved the heat and Rachel made it hotter sporting a fun edgier look. The last location at White Rock Lake in Dallas Shannon went with a more classic bridal look with pearls and a softer look. Who says you have to only have one look for your bridal session?

kimberly’s bridals at the Mckinney Cotton Mill

Kimberly’s wedding is today and I am more than thrilled to share these bridals with you. As a wedding photographer, we are not obligated to keep the bridals under wraps until the wedding day, but as a courtesy most of us do so the groom won’t see the gorgeous bride before the wedding day.

As soon as I peeked Kimberly’s Watters wedding gown, I was instantly in love. The wonderful gals at Stardust Celebrations helped Kimberly to find the perfect wedding dress. I think The Mckinney Cotton Mill goes nicely with it as well ;) Mckinney is just north of Dallas and I love shooting at The Cotton Mill. I seem to find new things every time I go.

A tattoo of the word “Imagine” in John Lennon’s handwriting…

I love my brides :)

Speaking of love….DiFiori really outdid themselves with this bouquet. I cant wait to see what they have in store for the wedding today. Rhinestones and Ostrich feathers…nice, Robin! helloooooo wind gusts…we love you :)

hailey | BRIDALS

Hailey found me on facebook and boy am I glad she did! We shot her wedding today in Waxahachie, Texas and had a fabulous time…brrrr, it was so cold! They were real troopers and managed to hang in there while we got the shots we needed to rock their wedding! Enjoy Hailey’s fabulous bridal portraits and stay tuned for the rest of the wedding photography!

We shot Hailey’s bridals at the Las Colinas Canals and she is stunningly beautiful. I left a surprise in one frame…it was baby day at the Canals! Her wedding dress was made for her :: it must have been. It was the first dress she tried on too! I am so inspired by these girl’s dresses. They seem to blow me away each time I see them! I don’t think that effect will ever wear off. Brides are just fabulous!
